London Borough of Greenwich Case Study

Accommodation needs assessment and strategic design brief for a new Civic Centre in Woolwich to replace many small, unsuitable office buildings currently used.

The image below was designed by HLM Architects and represents a visual of the proposed Civic Centre which is now under construction.

Greewich Council's civic centre accommodation needs assessment and strategic design briefing for this new civic centre based on the Actium space modelActium provided the Council with:

  • An accommodation needs assessment
  • A strategic design brief based on staff interviews, document review, data collection and analysis
  • Consultancy relating to managing change, and cultural change training

Our terms of reference included the preparation of a space model with detailed assumptions giving a breakdown of the size and numbers of workstations required together with ancillary space in a proposed new administrative centre in Woolwich.

Actium carried out a Total Office Cost Study on 40 existing Council occupied office buildings and a comparative total office cost assessment with the development of a new 20,000 sq m Civic Centre.

Actium provided a detailed design brief for a new Civic Centre, local service centre, library and education facility in Woolwich and a combined leisure centre, local service centre and library in Eltham.

The project is shortly going to tender for the construction phase, Actium's design brief having been accepted by the Council.
